Judge Kymberly K. Evanson Biography

Kymberly K. Evanson is a United States District Judge for the Western District of Washington. Judge Evanson was nominated to serve on the federal court by President Joseph R. Biden on July 13, 2022. She began her judicial service on September 7, 2023.

Prior to joining the bench, Judge Evanson was a partner at Pacifica Law Group LLP in Seattle where she represented public, private, and not-for-profit clients in a variety of trial and appellate litigation maters, with a focus on constitutional, administrative, elections, public finance, and municipal law.

Before joining Pacifica, Judge Evanson was an associate from 2009 to 2011 in the Appellate, Governmental and Constitutional Law Group of K&L Gates LLP in Seattle. Throughout her legal career, Judge Evanson has volunteered with numerous community groups and bar associations. She also served on the board of several local legal organizations.

Born in Longview, Washington, Judge Evanson earned her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Seattle University in 1999, where she was both a Sullivan Scholar and a Harry S. Truman Scholar. She earned her law degree, cum laude, in 2007 from Georgetown Law, where she served as an editor of the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. Following law school, she clerked for District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
